And Here's Why YOU MIGHT WANT TO HIRE ME AS YOUR small WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

If you've landed on this page, chances are you've already looked at a hundred photographer portfolios, and every one of them is starting to blur together. So let me make this easy: here's who I am, how I work, and why I think I might be exactly the right photographer for your day.

Who I Work Best With

I'll be honest with you, because I think you'd rather I was: I'm not the right fit for every couple, and that's exactly how it should be. I do my best work with brides who already know what they want. You've thought about this day for a long time. You're investing properly in the things that matter to you. A bespoke dress, beautiful florals, and an intimate 5 star dinner with 10 of your closest friends or family. You want a photographer who matches that level of care, without needing you to manage them. My favourite client is the bride who needs 4 hours of wedding photography, you would love getting ready photos that show the excitement and nervous tension before the ceremony, to capture the details of your carefully planned and designed dress, your rings, and shoes, your mum fussing over you and the mad dash to get out the door.

You're not chasing five hundred posed shots or a wedding that looks like everyone else's. You want a smaller, more intentional day. A beautiful room to get ready in, somewhere like The Ritz-Carlton, COMO The Treasury, or The Westin, where the light does half the work for me. You want the quiet, real moments captured properly: your mother doing up the last button, the dress hanging just so, your hands as the celebrant reads your vows. And you're happy to trust me to handle the rest, because that's my job, not yours.

If that sounds like you, we're going to get along very well.

I'm Not "A Here to Perform" "Wedding Photographer"

I've photographed over 200 weddings around Perth, from grand church ceremonies to quiet elopements in the bush, and everything in between. In that time I've learned something that a lot of newer photographers haven't figured out yet: the best photos don't come from a photographer who's directing every second of your day. They come from a photographer who knows exactly when to step in, and when to get out of the way. I am bossy in the nicest possible way when I need to be but I will also spend 5 minutes chatting to your nan or your mum when they look stressed or have a tear.

That's the whole philosophy behind my work, which I call Tales of Light. I'm drawn to beautiful, considered light, the hush of a hotel suite in the morning, the glow through a west-facing window at golden hour, and to moments that unfold naturally rather than ones I've manufactured. My style is classic and polished, not stiff. Think editorial stills, not a checklist of forced poses. Images that look just as beautiful hanging in your home in twenty years as they do the week after your wedding. You want images that look like art and tell the story of your day without looking generic.

How I Actually Work on the Day

I show up early, I move efficiently, and I make sure every hour counts toward the photographs you'll actually treasure. That usually means:

  • Getting ready, done properly. The dress, the details, the quiet nerves and laughter in the room before it all begins, this is often my favourite part of the day, and it photographs beautifully in the kind of hotel suites you've chosen.
  • A ceremony captured as it happens, not staged for the camera.
  • Portraits that don't feel like a photoshoot. I can get genuinely beautiful couple portraits in a short window, or we can take our time and wander around to different places for that relaxed editorial vibe.
  • The in-between moments, a toast, a glance across the table, your dad's face, that end up meaning more to you a year later than almost anything else.

I'm efficient because I've done this hundreds of times, not because I'm rushing you. There's a real difference, and you'll feel it on the day.

The Truth About "Posing"

Here's something worth clearing up, because I think it's the single biggest fear people have about their wedding photos: almost nobody actually knows how to model. You are not a professional model, and neither is your partner, and that is completely normal. So when people say they want photos that "don't look posed," what they're really afraid of is standing stiffly in front of a camera with no idea what to do with their hands.

That's not what good posing actually means. Real posing isn't arranging you like a mannequin,it's guiding. A small prompt here, a genuine reason to laugh there, a suggestion to walk, to lean in, to forget I'm even holding a camera. Done well, you barely notice it's happening. What comes out the other side is a photograph that looks entirely natural, entirely you, and still holds up as a genuinely beautiful, timeless image, not a stiff studio portrait, but not an accidental candid either. It's the difference between a snapshot and a photograph taken with care and intention.

This is honestly where I think I do my best work, and it's the thing that comes up again and again in my reviews: making people who hate having their photo taken feel completely at ease. A gentle bit of direction, a laugh at the right moment, and by the time we're a few minutes into portraits, most couples forget I'm even there. That's exactly when the real photos happen.
